Winemaking

“My passion is one rooted in family, a passion to produce honest wines that best embody my family’s love for great wine and the unique estate vineyards that we own."

-Michael Baldacci

Michael Baldacci
Winemaker, Owner

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Michael Baldacci spent much of his childhood walking his family’s vineyards. Inspired early by the delicate balance between nature and human hands, he returned to Napa Valley as an adult to join Baldacci Family Vineyards.

After earning his B.A. from Loyola Marymount University, Michael stepped into a managerial role at the winery, carrying forward his father’s vision: to craft wines that reflect the character of the land, the quality of the grapes, and the family’s traditions.

Today, as Winemaker and a second-generation vintner at Baldacci Family Vineyards, Michael leads the production of premium, single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Over more than a decade at Baldacci, he has worked across sales, operations, and winemaking—building a deep understanding of both the craft and the business. His commitment to quality has earned the winery multiple 95+ point scores from Decanter, Robert Parker Wine Advocate, Jeb Dunnuck, and others.

In 2025, Michael was named a North Bay Business Journal Forty Under 40 honoree, recognizing his influence as a next-generation wine industry leader. His winemaking philosophy has been featured in Forbes, Robb Report, and other national publications, highlighting his dedication to quality, sustainability, and family-driven winemaking in Napa Valley.

Michael continues to expand his expertise through UC Davis Extension courses and remains active in the wine community through leadership and volunteer work. He frequently participates in tastings, industry forums, and winemaking trials that explore the effects of harvest timing, fermentation methods, and aging vessels.

“Wine is so multi-faceted,” Michael reflects. “Viticulture and enology are always evolving, and each tasting reminds me of the incredible balance between artistry and science.”
