2017 Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon Magnum

2017 Black Label Magnum

Tasting Notes

Bottled in magnum, this wine has evolved gracefully, preserving freshness while deepening in texture and complexity. The larger format encourages slower, more even aging, allowing the 2017 vintage to retain its youthful vibrancy while gaining the added depth and nuance that only time in a magnum can deliver.

The palate opens with rich dark-berry fruit—blackberry compote, ripe blackcurrant, and a hint of dark cherry—before revealing layers of warm baking spice, graphite, and cocoa. Bright acidity and silky, well-integrated tannins frame this polished expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, culminating in a long, structured finish.

This wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve its character. Natural sediment may occur.

In 1998, my family purchased our Winery Ranch, located along the Silverado Trail. The vineyard has been in continuous wine grape production since 1888 and we feel the obligation to remain passionate guardians of this beautiful place. My intention for each vintage with the Black Label is to create an expression of Cabernet Sauvignon that reflects both the rich history of the vineyard as well as the iconic Stags Leap District AVA. I strive for the balanced structure that comes from the silky skin tannin married with the complexity of medium-toast French oak. The front palate is the hook: explosive dark berry fruit that grabs my attention. The rich front end of the wine carries through to a long, complex finish. Whether you want to pair it with an impromptu BBQ with friends and family or a formal holiday meal, this is a wine for every occasion.
