Our Ruppert Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon has been a staple in our portfolio since 2005. This AVA has become a darling to Napa Valley Cab lovers in the past five years and I’m pleased to say that we’ve always loved this growing region for its predictable weather and year on year consistency for acid and red fruit. There is tremendous back palate length which carries the ripe red fruit on a long and almost never-ending finish. This AVA is always our last pick of the season with the more temperate weather allowing for maximum hang time and the development of more nuanced layers that the other AVA’s can’t quite achieve because of the heat. The soil has deep alluvial deposits from the Vaca Mountain range and there is always a touch of flinty stone that peeks out from under the layers of fruit. This wine can at first feel soft and slightly feminine but is actually quite structured and rich. Named after my grandfather, Paul Ruppert Baldacci, who is both gruff and tender with his embrace this is a perfect description of this wine’s personality. ~Michael Baldacci
With ripe red fruits and a striking balance between oak and acidity, this is a wonderful expression of Cabernet that is both elegant and rich.
