2010 Brenda's Vineyard Cabernet
The seventeen-acre Baldacci Family Vineyards Stags Leap District vineyard provides many opportunities to create dynamic Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Our Brenda’s Vineyard has traditionally originated from one small section of this property. However, in 2010, we discovered that we had something to add from our Estate vineyards. Baldacci Family Vineyards has a dramatically steep, small, hillside vineyard that is producing a hillside Cabernet that is outstanding. Our winemaker, Rolando Herrera, found his favorite barrel from this hillside block and added it to the 7 barrels of our valley floor Brenda’s Vineyard to produce the best Cabernet from the property. The 2010 Brenda’s Vineyard has aromas of honey and caramel, red and black plums, caramelized figs, cherries, graphite, sweet oak, fine tobacco and hints of white chocolate. While you may want to merely enjoy the aromas of this wine, one sip will remind you of what you expect when you pour a glass of the Baldacci Brenda’s VineyardCabernet. A complex mix of sweet red fruit, dark chocolate, leather, plums, and chewy mouth-watering tannins explode on your palate surrounded by the velvety elegance of a Stags Leap District Cabernet.
95 points in Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Brenda’s Vineyard appears to have all of the Black Label’s characteristics – just more of them. With remarkable intensity, richness and length as well as sweet tannin, this full-bodied, skyscraper-like 2010 is not heavy, but shows the true elegance of the Stags Leap appellation. Drink this compelling 2010 over the next 12-15 years. "
Elegant, beautiful and smart, Brenda Baldacci is the wife of owner Thomas Baldacci. Brenda’s Vineyard has often been told it is an iron fist wearing a velvet glove. With bold, rich flavors but soft tannins and a lasting finish, this is the perfect tribute to a mother of four boys.
