The cool weather influence from the Carneros does little to dampen this powerful Syrah. Elegant and sophisticated, this wine has notes of blueberries, white pepper, mocha and black tea. The flavors linger on the palate with smooth tannins and a mouthful of plum jam and smoky cedar. The depth of the 2009 Allwin will develop as the years pass, bringing to mind the refined Rhone wines with a Napa Valley flair.
